First, I will arrange a Zoom meeting with you, approximately a month before the wedding. It's usually very straight forward and crossing the t's and dotting the i's but sometimes interesting things come up in conversation and we can use them in the painting design.
I take a 20% deposit on bookings and send out a deposit invoice. Once that is paid, I will send you through a receipt and the day is yours. If any problem was to come up on my end, I would certainly refund the deposit to you, however this has never happened and hopefully never will.
Remainder of payment can be paid before the painting is delivered. I will send you a photo of the painting on the email and following this can arrange for drop off.
Lead time on paintings is usually between 4 and 6 weeks following the wedding day. As I paint in oils this can require some drying times between layers. This totally depends on the painting composition and requirements. Some paintings will require no drying times, some several.
On the day I like to arrive at the venue between one and two hours before the ceremony. I usually find the venue manager and set up my easel where it needs to be first. How early I need to arrive can depend on a few things. If you are very specific about what background you would like painted, I can grab a photo fairly quickly or it may take a little longer if I'm scouting around for a background. Either way, letting the venue know I will be attending, and where I can set up is great.
If time is limited at the venue before the ceremony, no problem. let me know and ill work with it.
I will introduce myself to the photographer and let them know I will be taking photos for a painting. I usually get the photos during the ceremony and shortly afterwards. I will also possibly hang back with the photographer and grab some more shots while you are posing.
The background photo and the photo of you the couple do not need to be the same image. I can use any background and transpose a shot of you onto it usually.
I then put the best options onto my iPad and do a quick discussion with you guys to sort out what to paint and then it's done... I can start painting.
If you would like, we can arrange a separate photo shoot for the painting if you had a particular idea in mind.
I can set up anywhere in the venue. My easel requires about 1 square meter of space then I need to be able to step back a little to look whilst painting and most venues can accommodate this easily.
Being next to a bar, or an alcove near the bathrooms or places like that are completely fine. Infact can work really well as people can see the painting each time, they make their way to the bar of the bathrooms and see the progress.
Part of being a wedding painter is chatting to guests; everyone is welcome to come up and chat and this is very much part of my role in the day. Conversations vary often around all thing's art and painting but it's always nice to chat to people about anything. Some may be artists themselves, and others have never seen an artist's process and get the chance to ask questions
As an artist I love to explore new ideas and challenges and incorporate things that are unique or special to you. Different ideas and suggestions are most welcome, and I will always do my best to accommodate.
If wedding venues are further than an hour or so outside of Melbourne I will probably put some extra cost on the painting for milage. I do this by jumping on where is and approximating kilometers and a relevant petrol cost per kilometer and we can agree on a price before the deposit invoice.
I would be happy to travel to paint a wedding should circumstances allow. Costs and arrangements to be discussed depending on the particular location,
Dogs are often very special guests, and I am happy to incorporate them into your painting. I have two paintings with furry friends booked, after I have done these, I may add some extra charge for them, depending on requirements.
Can be added for an extra fee if it's a realistic and like portrait. Depending on the requirements, incorporating people into the scene as a part of a background may be included in the package.
Capturing the feeling and intimacy of the day within the painting is for you and your memories throughout your lifetimes. This is the most important part of my job.
